A 17-year-old male was near the Lincoln-Bassett elementary/middle school in New Haven, Connecticut. The teen had a gun in his pants' pocket which he unintentionally discharged.
"Every witness interviewed said they heard one shot," said a police spokesperson. "He shot himself in the groin." Police referred to the injury as a "self-inflicted penis wound."
The teen ran into the nearby school and asked the school principal for help. The principal called 911.
The police spokesperson said the teen's injuries were non-life-threatening and added "the vast majority of groin shots we see are accidental discharges."
