Man taking gun out of truck unintentionally shoots and kills himself

32-year-old Aaron Kondo, of Kapa'au, Hawaii, had gone to check on pig traps on private property. When he didn't return home his family became concerned and went to check on him.

Kondo was found unconscious next to his truck with a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.

Police determined that Kondo's rifle had been stored loaded and unlocked in the cab of his truck and that when Kondo tried to pull the gun out of the truck by the barrel, something in the truck caught the gun's trigger and caused it to discharge.

Kondo was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
