Earl Kuschel, of New Haven, Missouri, was in his work shop, sighting a scope on his 22 caliber rifle. He fired a shot through the open door of the shed at a target in his yard.
Unfortunately, he did not see his wife, 63-year-old Ruth Ann, come around the corner. The bullet struck her in the upper chest.
Earl attempted CPR until the ambulance arrived. Ruth Ann was pronounced dead by the ambulance crew.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and two grandchildren.
