A 10-year-old Holmesville, Ohio boy is in custody, suspected of shooting his mother to death. 46-year-old Deborah McVay was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head Sunday night.
Four guns were found in the boy's bedroom. On his bed were the .22-caliber rifle believed to be the weapon that killed his mother and a 12-gauge shotgun. A gun rack mounted on the wall had two more .22-caliber rifles. Family members told police the guns were a Christmas present from the boy's grandfather.
"It's not unusual for boys of that age to hunt and shoot," said the County Sheriff's Chief Deputy, "I think it's unusual that those weapons were permitted to be in the boy's bedroom."
Police are not saying if they think the shooting was unintentional or not but the County prosecutor said authorities do not plan to prosecute the boy as an adult.
Ohh shoot.
