A 32-year-old Corsicana, Texas man was returning to his truck after a day of rafting on the river in New Braunfels when he noticed a bulge in one of the truck tires. He decided to change the tire before driving home. When he went to retrieve a jack from underneath the back seat he instead grabbed a loaded, unlocked 30-30 rifle that he had stored under the seat. He unintentionally discharged the gun, shooting himself in the abdomen.
An Airlife helicopter was called in to airlift the man to a hospital in San Antonio for surgery. He is listed in stable condition. Police have ruled the incident an accidental shooting.
