Two high school students wounded when gun in backpack fires

A 17-year-old student at Gardena High School in Los Angeles, California had a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in his backpack. According to the school district superintendent, "He literally dropped his knapsack on the desk, and the gun went off." Two students were wounded in the shooting.
The two 15-year-old students were hospitalized. The boy is in fair condition after being hit in the neck. The bullet grazed the girl's head, causing a skull fracture and a "fairly significant blood clot on the left side of her brain." She remains in critical condition. Doctors said they will have a better idea of her recovery today, saying they would be looking to see if she could move her arms and legs.
Police are considering charges against the boy who brought the gun to school.
Ohh shoot.
