But Sunday, the re-enactment went terribly wrong when the gun Tom Carter fired unintentionally contained live ammunition. One of the bullets Carter fired struck Ken Curtis in the upper-groin area. Curtis was flown to the hospital in Tucson for treatment.
At least two other rounds struck businesses approximately 680 feet from the skit. One of the bullets caused shrapnel to hit a female bystander. She was not seriously injured and refused treatment.
Law officials have ordered the Tombstone Vigilante group to stop future re-enactments while the incident is being investigated.
