52-year-old Joseph Streff, of Chicago, Illinois, gave his 14-year-old son a handgun for Christmas. Less than two weeks later the teen unintentionally shot himself in the leg with the gun.
Police report that the injury was not life-threatening.
Streff has been charged with reckless conduct for providing his son with the gun. His bond was set at $1,00 and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 27th.
Wow! It's refreshing to see the parent held accountable. All too uncommon. Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
