Man falls asleep holding his gun, awakens when he shoots himself

A New York man fell asleep in his recliner with a gun in his lap. According to police, "He was holding his weapon, fell asleep and woke up to a bang." He shot himself in the hand and the leg.
Fortunately, his injuries were not life threatening. He was treated at the local hospital and released.
