A 60-year-old Wisconsin man was enjoying a weekend pontoon ride when he was unexpectedly shot in the left shoulder. Police believe the gun was fired by someone on the river shoreline and say the shooting appears to be accidental.
The man is expected to make a full recovery. "The rib pretty much stopped the bullet," he said, "Higher or lower, would have hit the lung or got the spine."
The local sheriff estimates that the .22 caliber shot was capable of traveling a mile or more and reminds those using guns to take extra precautions and make sure they shoot in a safe manner.

Monday, June 21st is National ASK Day
ASK Day is a national day of focus on the lifesaving message of the ASK (Asking Saves Kids) campaign. ASK Day takes place on the first day of every summer, a time of year when children play more often in other homes.
Parents ask all sorts of questions to protect their children when they go play at the home of a friend, neighbor or relative. But there is one important question that more than half of parents say it never even occurred to them to ask: "Is there a gun where my child plays?"
The ASK campaign encourages parents to ASK if there are guns in the homes where their children play. It is a simple idea that is undoubtedly saving lives.

Mother and son charged in boy's shooting death
A Florida woman and her 14-year-old son have been charged in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy. According to police reports the two boys were home from school when Jeff Dilworth went and got his mother's 9mm handgun from her bedroom nightstand and showed it to his friend, Daniel Torres. Torres removed the magazine and Dilworth, thinking the gun was unloaded, pulled the trigger. Tragically, a bullet remaining in the chamber fired, striking young Torres in the head, killing him.
14-year-old Dilworth is being charged as an adult. He faces a charge of manslaughter with a possible sentence of up to 30 years.
Because Florida law requires gun owners to prevent children from gaining access to firearms and requires firearms to be stored in a locked container or with a trigger lock, Dilworth's mother Shari Edwards, 50, is charged with culpable negligence, a felony charge that carries a maximum five-year sentence.
Mother and son are expected to appear in bond court together.
